The challenge
Enrolling in an online course at UAGC meant phone calls and email chains — personal details, document uploads, and opportunity tracking scattered across inboxes.
For a campus whose entire model is digital, the front door wasn't.
The in-house Salesforce team consisted of two developers and an admin; complex or time-sensitive builds had nowhere to escalate to.
The work
A Laminar Fellow embedded full-time with UAGC's delivery team (sprints, standups, deployment cycles) and built the student enrollment portal on Experience Cloud from scratch, alongside one other developer.
The portal handles the full lifecycle: registration, personal details, document uploads, and the opportunity pipeline through to enrollment.
The Laminar Fellow also pushed a consequential architecture call: moving UAGC away from FormAssembly toward native LWC, trading a form vendor's convenience for control and headroom on a platform already hitting its limits.
The impact
The portal launched in roughly four months and replaced the phone-and-email process outright. Opportunity conversion rose by 1.7% after launch, a meaningful increase when thousands of students apply simultaneously.
Three years in, the engagement was just renewed, with UAGC's directors discussing an expanded remit.
Complex and time-sensitive implementations still escalate to one place: the Fellow who built the front door.
